Expelled the Movie

Posted by Randy Davis under: Ben Stein; Culture; Intelligent Design; Science .

I do not go to movies in theaters because they usually smell so bad that its sets off an asthma attack.  So, I am just now seeing Ben Stein’s Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed.  This is a beautifully produced movie.  I love Ben Stein’s sense of humor.  It is dry,  biting and  erudite.

The movie highlights the Fascist nature of many universities today.  The university should be a place that welcomes the discussion of ideas.  In fact, many pride themselves in that they host a number of professors who teach very unpopular and culturally hated ideas.  Yet, in the science department, anyone who does not tow the Darwinian line are eXpelled.  They are lose their voice, their tenure and ultimately their jobs.

In brilliant fashion, Stein deals with the oppression exercised against anyone who mentions Intelligent Design.  Ironically, he got Richard Dawkens to admit that he was open to a designer as long as it was not God.  But it goes further than Intelligent Design, it is about academic freedom and perhaps about our political freedom.  Stein examines the political consequences of Darwinism and it is very chilling.

I reccomend that anyone interested in ideas, science, history, culture, and politics, see this movie. There s a companion book to the movie.  I have not seen it but I intend to read it.  You can watch the trailor and other clips at this site  http://www.expelledthemovie.com/videos.php
